Solo Leveling
My Honest Take on Solo Leveling
This is my personal take — anime hits everyone differently, and that's completely fine.
Solo Leveling is easily one of my top anime, especially in the action category, and it's one of the best I've ever watched. It felt a bit low at the start, but once I got into it, it settled into the number 2 or 3 spot on my list. Season 2 might even take the number one spot, because it's on a completely different level, not only in animation but especially in its action sequences. The fight choreography is top class, and the fight between Beru and Sung Jinwoo left me stunned. It's one of the best action sequences in the whole series, and I honestly liked Season 2 even more than Season 1. Whoever worked on it was incredibly creative, and I want to say thank you to the entire crew, every single member. If it weren't for them, we might have missed out on this masterpiece. I like Sung Jinwoo as a protagonist too. He starts out as a weak character and becomes stronger day by day through his own hard work. The game-like power system is cool as well, and it feels different from other anime. Before I started, I wasn't sure if a game-style system would work for me, but after watching it, it completely changed my perspective. It's a great anime, and if you ever feel like starting your anime journey, this one is an excellent pick. It even made a difference at home. My brother used to tease me, asking if I was a kid for watching anime, and I'd always tell him, "you don't know how good these shows are until you watch them." He kept saying anime was only for kids, but about a year later, he finally gave it a try. Solo Leveling ended up being his first anime, and it completely changed his perspective too. Now he keeps asking me what to watch next, and he's started watching other anime as well.

Key Characters
Notable characters and standouts who shape the series' storytelling, world dynamics, and emotional journey.
Sung Jinwoo
Shadow Monarch / E-Rank Hunter (Initially)
Initially mocked as the "World's Weakest Hunter," Jinwoo becomes the sole player of a mysterious System. He is relentlessly determined and fiercely protective of his family, utilizing his unique ability to infinitely level up and resurrect fallen enemies as a loyal undead army.
Cha Hae-In
Vice Guild Master of Hunters Guild / S-Rank Hunter
A highly skilled and stoic swordsman who stands as one of the strongest hunters in South Korea. She possesses a unique sensitivity to mana that makes most hunters smell terrible to her, with Jinwoo being the sole, intriguing exception.
Yoo Jinho
Vice Guild Master of Ahjin Guild / D-Rank Hunter
A wealthy, eager, and somewhat naive young man who idolizes Jinwoo after being saved by him in a dungeon. He becomes Jinwoo's most trusted confidant and handles the operational and financial backbone of their newly formed guild.
Igris
Shadow Knight / Commander
Originally a formidable, crimson-armored knight tasked with guarding an empty throne, he is defeated by Jinwoo and becomes his most loyal shadow summon. He is highly chivalrous and frequently shows a comical penchant for respectfully returning severed monster heads to his master.
The System & Mana Awakening
A guide to how abilities, rules, constraints, and power mechanics function in this universe.
In this universe, humans randomly awaken with superhuman abilities and a fixed magical capacity (Mana) that can never be naturally increased. These awakened individuals, known as Hunters, are rigidly ranked from E (weakest) to S (strongest). Once a Hunter's rank is determined upon awakening, it remains permanent, forcing them to rely on their innate class—such as Fighter, Mage, Healer, or Tank—to battle magical beasts within extradimensional Dungeons that spawn across the globe. Sung Jinwoo is the singular exception to this universal law due to his selection as the "Player" of a mysterious, video game-like interface known as the System. The System bypasses standard Hunter limitations, allowing Jinwoo to level up indefinitely by completing daily physical quests, slaying monsters, and distributing earned attribute points into strength, agility, perception, and intelligence. He also gains access to an extradimensional inventory, unique titles, and exclusive passive and active skills unavailable to any other Hunter. At the absolute pinnacle of this power scaling is Jinwoo's exclusive class: the Shadow Monarch. Through a mechanic called Shadow Extraction, Jinwoo can resurrect the souls of defeated enemies—both beasts and humans—transforming them into an eternally loyal, shadow-infused army. These shadows retain the combat prowess they possessed in life, can regenerate instantly as long as Jinwoo has sufficient mana, and uniquely, they can also level up and evolve alongside him, effectively creating a self-sustaining, ever-growing one-man legion.
